The Esthetics Program is divided into two areas: Pre-Clinic Freshmen (250 Clock Hours), and Clinic Seniors (750 Clock Hours in GA and 500 Clock Hours in TN). In this area, instruction is given that will empower the Student Esthetician to have a positive attitude towards the profession and understand their role in it. It will also show how a strong work ethic should incorporate the concerns of the public. In this section the student is also taught the rules and regulations that govern their profession and provided with a working knowledge of Esthetics as a business which will prepare the student to enter the world of Esthetic employment. Sciences The student will gain a theoretical understanding of the physiology/histology of the skin in order to provide effective skin analysis to be used as tools to determine treatment directives, and how specific treatments, procedures and products affect the skin. It also instructs the student in the purpose of performing various treatments and helps the student understand product usage. Business PracticesHelps the student acquire and apply sound business practices that will encourage professionalism and enhance earning potential. Spa/Salon ManagementIn this section, the student is taught to apply principles of management, marketing and customer service in building and maintaining a client/associate base that contributes to the profitability of a salon. Subjects to be covered include: Customer Service, front desk reception, client retention and tracking, business management, managerial responsibilities and marketing. THE Facial Basic facial treatments performed based on skin analysis will include cleansing, toning, massaging, towel steaming, applying masques, and moisturizing. Advanced facial treatments will incorporate the use of chemicals such as glycolic acid. Theoretical and practical use of electrical apparatus will be covered upon mastery of other facial procedures. Body Treatments In this section, the student will learn massage techniques and manipulations that are used in esthetic treatments for the hands, feet, and back. It will include a thorough understanding of body wraps, body polishing, cellulite treatments and detoxification treatments, as well as aromatherapy (theoretical and practical use of essential oils to enhance treatments) and reflexology (massage to the feet and hands used to relieve and release stress in body organs). Students will receive certification in reflexology. Make-up Applications This section teaches the theory of color in preparation, selection and application of cosmetics. Hair RemovalThis course instructs the student in the theory and practice of hair removal and its techniques. Advanced ProceduresIn this section, basic theoretical and practical principles are incorporated to introduce the student to advanced procedures including: Advanced Skin Analysis, Serums and Botanical treatments for advanced skin care, Medical Esthetics (patient psychology, medical terminology and charting, pre and post operative therapy), and clinical sanitation and sterilization. |
